Portrait par Hugues Legros

Delphine Simonis’s artistic approach is rooted in a profound and poetic exploration of the present, seen as a web of sensations, silences and contrasts.

Her works reflect a constant duality between matter and spirit, light and darkness, resistance and abandonment. She develops an ‘impressionism of consciousness’, where each canvas becomes a place of presence, listening and transformation. Using acrylics, a very free use of water and layers of colour, she gathers traces of memory, forgetting, the passage of time and the cycles of eternal return.

Her technique begins with a simple horizontal line, which becomes breath, writing, a path. Influenced by philosophical thought, she seeks to create a dialogue between opposites and paradoxes: empty/full, blurred/net, visible/invisible and their intimate musicality.

She pursues a synthesis beyond the ineffable, where beauty emerges in discretion. Her works are spaces for crossing, where the eye loses itself, meditates or rests. They offer a place to slow down, take in the world and contemplate the moment.
